No One Can Hear Me - blog tour

BLOG TOUR

No One Can Hear You

He said that they’d let me go on purpose. That they could easily find me if they wanted to. He said that they didn’t want me. That I was too much trouble. He said if I went to the cops, he’d know. If I told Sonya, he’d know. If I talked to friends or teachers, he’d know. He told me to pretend it didn’t happen. He told me to consider it a compliment, that I was too strong. His last words to me were, ‘Just forget’.
Troubled teen Faith Marsden was one of several girls abducted from Crawton, a country town known for its picturesque lake and fertile farmland. Unlike the others, she escaped, though sixteen years on she still bears the emotional and physical scars.
Zoe Haywood returns to Crawton to bury her estranged mother Lillian, who has taken her own life. As she and Faith rekindle their high-school friendship, they discover notes left by Lillian that point to two more young women who recently disappeared from Crawton. But Lillian’s confused ramblings leave them with more questions than answers.
As Faith and Zoe delve deeper into the mystery, they become intent on saving the missing women, but in doing so are drawn into Auckland’s hidden world of drugs, abduction and murder. And then Faith decides to confront the mastermind – on her own.

 MY REVIEW
This is my first read by this author and it certainly won’t be my last as I really liked this story.

If your looking for a well written mystery then this is the story for you. A story that kept me guessing throughout.

The story starts with introducing us to Faith Marsden who was abducted. Zoe returns to the town to bury her mother. They both rekindle a childhood friendship. Both girls are invested in finding the other missing women after finding notes by Faiths deceased mother Lilian.

I did like this story. Some characters I liked more than others. I ended up reading this in a day as I wanted to know how the stitch was going to play out. I’ll definitely be looking to read more from this author in the future.

MY REVIEW

After reading Inside The Whispers which is book one in the Dr. Samantha Willerby series I was really looking forward to reading more from this author. I wasn’t disappointed as I loved this story.

Rosie has a whole heaps of problems but when she’s the sole survivor in a crash she seeks out Dr. Samantha Willerbys help to recover her lost memories.

Like the previous book this is a really well told story. I was hooked from start to finish. The twits and turns kept on coming and I was gripped. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

My review

This is a very good debut novel. I really enjoyed it.

Grace returns to London after twenty years abroad as her mum is dying and she needs to sort out her dying mums affairs. She starts getting blank Mothers Day cards which is very confusing as she isn’t a mother. Then the strange phone calls starts. What’s going on?

This kept my attention. The only negative is I was pretty confused who’s point of view was being told. I would have liked it to be more clearer. Having said that I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

Questions & Answers with Joz Maxel

Questions and answers with Joz Maxel

  1. What is the first book that made you cry?

First book to make me cry that I can remember is when I was a teenager I read about a girl who had leukemia and went to camp for sick kids and met a boy.

  1. When you develop characters do you already know who they are before you begin writing or do you let them develop as you go?

Developing characters for the most part I know going in what they`ll be all about...Rourke was a surprise to me. I didn`t start writing him as a gay male, but when it popped in my head it just felt right.

  1. How long have you been writing?

I`ve been writing as Joz Maxel for 2 years this month

  1. What inspires you?

What inspires me is EVERYTHING. I get ideas everywhere for story ideas, most of which I don`t develop into a story but the thought process blows me away how far I can take some ideas.

  1. What is your favourite genre to read and why?

Favourite genre to read is probably dark romance. Love the damaged, twisted men and the fucked up women that find each other. 🙂

  1. How important is research to you when writing a book?

Researching topics to put in books is very important I think. This next book is going to take me awhile to write cause it deals with dementia and everyone who is touched by it. Locations in Under The Rising Sun I spent a lot of time making sure I got the culture and places as true to form as I could.

  1. Do you believe a book cover plays an important part in the selling process?

Book covers are like the wrapping to the present. It`s not everything but it draws you in.

  1. Does a bad review affect your writing?

I try to take bad reviews in stride and maybe see it from that reviewers POV...maybe I really did miss the mark or missed an aspect of the story I didn`t think was important. But I write for me first what I enjoy writing.

  1. How much of yourself do you put into your novels?

There`s not so much me as other family members in my story. The young ladies in My Absolution are loosely based off my girls. The things my husband says to me sometimes make it into books. I guess mannerisms and how I talk would make it into the book quite a bit.

  1. Who are your books mostly dedicated to?

I dedicate the books to those who inspired the book the most I guess.

  1. Are you friends with other writers?

I have tons of author friends on Facebook, and some of those are beyond the writer circle.

  1. Do you listen to music while writing? If so what do you listen to?

I always have music on when I write...it is a huge mood factor. I have a playlist for all the books I write...it`s a mix of all sorts.
