When Sparks Fly - blog tour

BLOG TOUR

Book Description:

The room is dark, except for the streetlights coming through the blinds. I can barely see her, but I feel her. She pushes me up against the wall and we kiss harder than we ever have before. I’ve been waiting so long for it to happen, and finally, it’s going to. Then the bedroom door flies open, and someone screams her name…

Britton Walsh has never had a home. After a lifetime in the care system, she doesn't expect she’ll ever find one. But beginning her senior year with new foster parents in a new city, means starting over yet again. Tom and Cate Cahill seem okay. The hitch? Their daughter, Avery.

Beautiful, popular and cool, Avery is everything Britton is not. She’s all Britton could ever ask for in a sister, or even a friend––but having survived without either for so long, Britton knows the way her heart races whenever Avery enters the room can only mean one thing…

But Avery has a secret. Something that is eating away at her and stopping her letting anyone in, least of all Britton. Will Avery’s insistence on punishing herself for a mistake in her past make Britton's last year of high school, and finding a place to call home, impossible? Can two such different people ever find common ground, friendship, or maybe even something more?

An unforgettable new adult lesbian romance for fans of Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters, Her Name in the Sky by Kelly Quindlen, or Nancy Garden’s classic young adult coming out novel, Annie on My Mind.

New Adult novel: recommended for 17+ due to mature themes and sexual content.

MY REVIEW

This is my first but certainly not my last read by this author. I absolutely loved this story.

The two main characters Britton and Avery sucked me right in.  Britton hasn’t had an easy start to her life. Moved from one foster home to another she finds herself with the Cahill family. They are a lovely couple with a daughter Avery who befriends Britton.

I found this to be a refreshing, well written, heart warming story that I really enjoyed. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Prisoner - blog tour

BLOG TOUR

Prisoner

Behind bars, the rules are different…

Prison Officer Jim Dalton is used to walking the landings on the male side of HMP Peterborough. It’s a dangerous place, fuelled by testosterone-driven violence, but he’s done the job for a long time. He understands the unwritten rules, and he has the prisoners’ respect.

When a relative is sent to the jail, Dalton is transferred to the female side of the prison. His next shift is so easy, he can’t believe that the officers over there get paid the same wages. He sleeps well for the first time in years.

But when he is assigned to the young offenders’ wing, dealing with female prisoners no longer seems so simple. As every day passes, and he gets to know the women better, he is slowly drawn in to new temptations, new traps and a new nightmare. One which could destroy everything.

Taking a break from his bestselling DI Barton series, Ross Greenwood returns with this shocking, page-turning and utterly compelling glimpse behind the bars of a women’s prison. From a man who walked the landings himself…

MY REVIEW

I love watching programmes based in prisons so was super excited to see this author was writing a book based in a prison. As he worked in a prison by expectations were high and I’m delighted to say he exceeded my expectations. This was slow paced to start which I actually liked.

We get to know the main character Jim Dalton. Usually working in the male side of the prison he is moved to the female side. First impressions change when he gets to know the female inmates.

This is another superb well written story. I’d highly recommend this story and all of this authors previous stories.

Author Bio:

Ross Greenwood is the author of six crime thrillers. Before becoming a full-time writer he was most recently a prison officer and so worked everyday with murderers, rapists and thieves for four years.

He lives in Peterborough and his first title for Boldwood – the beginning of a series – The Snow Killer was published in November 2019.

I Am Here To Kill You- blog tour

I Am Here To Kill You by Chris Westlake

#IAmHereToKillYouNovel @ChrisWestlake2 @damppebbles #damppebblesblogtours

Book Blurb:

Charming. Charismatic. Beautiful.
And deadly?

The members of a local support group in a sleepy welsh town are captivated by the new arrival, Sheena Strachan. Each member of the group has a reason for attending. Some hide dark, sinister secrets, and for others it is the highlight of their week.

But what are Sheena's motives for attending?

The group's leader, Rose, unexpectedly stops attending meetings. She goes into hiding, and quickly becomes an outcast. And then she is arrested for her estranged husband's murder.

Did Sheena really have no involvement in his killing?

With Sheena at the helm, the group goes from strength to strength, both in numbers and commitment. But their behaviour is changing. No story is to leave the room. They trust nobody. Men are the enemy. The residents of the previously peaceful town start turning against each other.

Was this Sheena's plan all along?

One mystery, however, stands out more than all the others.

Who is here to kill who…?

I AM HERE TO KILL YOU is a compelling psychological thriller that explores the potential power and devastation of manipulation.

MY REVIEW

I pretty much inhaled this in an afternoon and it was still on my mind days later. I found this to be cleverly written as I couldn’t guess what was going to happen.

I really don’t want to say much about the storyline as I think you need to read this yourself. Great plot twists had me glued to the story.

I can’t believe this is my first read by this author. I’m so looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Review: Four

Four Four by Sara Cate
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After finishing Four I now want to go and inhale every book by these two authors. I went out to my garden this morning to read a chapter or two. I now find myself sunburnt and sad that this story is finished.

The characters are brilliant and Iris is an awesome main female character. The storyline had me gripped from start to finish.. I have the proof with the sunburn lol

I’m so looking forward to reading more from both these authors.

Be warned this is a dark reverse harem romance so not for everyone.

Shadows of Hell - blog tour

Shadows of Hell by Duncan Thompson

#ShadowsofHell @dthompsonauthor @PantherPubs @damppebbles #damppebblesblogtours

Book Blurb:

When a man of heavenly worth sins in Hell, darkness shall reign upon the earth

A message from the other side - an omen of the impending apocalypse. A message intended for one man, the only man who can prevent Armageddon, saving the soul of every man, woman and child on Earth. That man is Joe Costello.

But, not only is Joe trapped in the underworld, he is also the same man who has the power to unleash the shadows of hell upon the world.

Inspired by Dante Alighieri's The Divine Comedy, Joe must battle his way through the nine circles of Hell - his escape being the key to salvation. Not only will he face all manner of Hell's demons, he'll also face his own.

However, Joe is not alone on his journey, as he is guided through each level of Hell by medium and psychic, Layla Thorne. Shadows of Hell is the epic follow-up to Shadows of the Woods.

'Shadows of Hell thunders along at a breakneck pace, not giving the reader chance to draw breath.' - Lee Mountford, author of The Demonic

MY REVIEW

I read a previous book by this author so I was super excited to read this one and I wasn’t disappointed.

Shadows of Hell was a total unexpected surprise for me and this follow up was just as good if not even better.

Although not a genre I usually jump into I’m so glad that I signed up for this tour so I got to read this story. Really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

About Duncan Thompson:

Duncan has spent most of his life in a small market town in West Yorkshire — the same town in which most of his stories are set under the guise of Ravenfield. Duncan has been writing works of fiction since the age of seven. In those early days, his stories often involved himself and his friends being transported to fantasy worlds. However, as a teenager, Duncan fell in love with horror movies and his writing took a whole new direction.

Duncan still lives in West Yorkshire with his partner and their two young children. He also has slight obsession with Spider-Man and the actor Bruce Campbell, as well as having an addiction to vinyl records, coffee and Lego.
