Review: Miracle on Cherry Hill

Miracle on Cherry Hill Miracle on Cherry Hill by Sun-mi Hwang
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I liked this story. It was quite different to what I normally read.

Kang goes back to his childhood area after being diagnosed with brain cancer. The neighbours aren’t making it easy for him.

Who owns Cherry Hill?

Kinda reminded me of reading fables years ago. I liked it.

Review: Tibble and Grandpa

Tibble and Grandpa Tibble and Grandpa by Wendy Meddour
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow what a story.

Granda misses granny a lot. Tibble wants to talk to Granda but he’s not replying. When they start talking it leads them to talk about missing grandma.

Ideal book for any kid that’s lost their grandma. It may help them understand.

A beautiful illustrated story. Be warned it may not be for everyone.

This book reminds me of the day my partners mum died. We took his dad back to our house as we didn’t want to leave him alone. I had a sleepover arranged at a friends house for my kids if they got too much for him. My youngest son who was little at the time went up to Granda and handed him some wrestling cards. They chatted for ages.I realised then the best thing for Granda was to have kids around him.

This is book two of Warlords of Empyrea.

Now usually I’d steer clear of books in this genre but as I took a chance on book one and enjoyed it I couldn’t resist reading this one.

I was captivated from start to finish.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m not even sure why I read this as I don’t read fantasy but I really enjoyed it.

Reynner and Eve. My curiosity was piqued with these two.

I’ll admit I did have to look up words I didn’t understand through no fault of the author as this is a genre I don’t normally read.

Well done to the author in capturing my attention and holding it throughout. I wouldn’t say this is a genre I will read loads of but this author has such a way of storytelling that I’m gonna read more from her.

Although this is a slow burn I think this pulled out more emotions than
the other books in the series.

Elena and Lance. Wow you sure had me on the edge of my seat.

Fantastic read that I couldn’t read fast enough yet at the same time I didn’t want it to finish. So so good. Read the Greenstone Security now.

This is book two in the Greenstone Security series. I highly recommend you read Still Waters before reading this one.

This is Rosies story who is friends with Lucy that we read about in book one. She’s a strong fiesta character that I couldn’t get enough of.
Luke is a fantastic character, really likeable.

This is a brilliant read. I felt the author pulled me through the wringer with this one and I loved every minute of it. Can’t wait to jump into book three.

One Day in Winter One Day in Winter by Shari Low
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Don’t think I’ve read a book set in one day and this was a great read.

Four characters tell their stories - Caro, Lila, Cammy and Bernadette.

Likeable characters apart from one!!

I really enjoyed this story and thought the ending was fitting to the story.

A clever interesting storyline that kept me going back for more. I’ll definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

Drunk Me - new release

NEW RELEASE

DRUNK ME, Southern Dreams: Oregon Coast, Book 1 by Courtney Lynn Rose

http://bit.ly/DrunkMe

🥃BLURB🥃
🥃Aisling
Ten years.
Ten years after the heartbreak of a lifetime.
Ten years since I lost my mind and made a complete ass out of myself.
Ten years since I left home and didn’t look back.
But only five years since I got sober.
Now, Momma’s sick and I’ve got to go back to the one place I swore I’d never set foot again—Home.
A lot has changed though. I’ve changed. I’m not the broken hearted twenty-one-year-old, drunken slob they all remember.
Funny enough, my ex is still a cheating asshole, but his best friend Robert, who’ve I know since we were toddlers…is all types of sexy lawman.
But sobriety is a bitch when you have to face your demons. Robert and I have a past of our own, and the longer I’m in town, the longer I want to jump off the wagon and get drunk on him…because he’s better than an liquor I’ve ever tasted.
Too bad booze and men are a lot alike in my world—both lose you at the bottom of the bottle, and it’s never a good experience.
🥃Robert
Ten years.
Ten years since I watched my best friend break the most beautiful girl’s heart.
Ten years since I stood by and let her spiral out of control.
Ten years since I helped her drunken ass run from this shore town to save her sanity.
But only five years since I got sober.
I’d only loved two girls in my life. One I helped run, the other I buried. I washed my hands five years ago of love and booze, and I haven’t been keen to go back to either.
As the sheriff of my small beach town, I unfortunately know everything about everyone. Which is why I should’ve been prepared for her to come back to town when her momma got sick.
But Aisling’s presence after ten years still hit me like a punch in the nuts, and now I can’t breath. She’d never loved me, not even as kids. My best friend not loving her was what drove her out of town, but now that she’s back, I’m not giving him the opportunity to hurt her twice.
We may have a past this town doesn’t know about, but I’m going to do what I should’ve done ten years ago—show her my kiss is way better than the bottle.
This town may have other plans, because as much as I want her, when shit hits the fan, I don’t know if I can risk my own sobriety to make sure she keeps hers.

MY REVIEW

This was a brilliant read that once I started I had to finish it which ended with me staying up till the wee hours but so worth it.

Aisling fled her hometown but after a phone call from her mum she’s back after ten years.

Robert is a good kind guy who has held a torch for Aisling since they were little.

Can Robert with his own demons help Aisling through this rough time?

I couldn’t read this fast enough. There are parts I didn’t realise I was holding my breath til a whoosh came out of me. I had goosebumps reading other parts.
Excellent read. Can’t wait to read more from this author.

Cruel Boy is Nate. Something happens that changes him completely. Then Sam appears. Nate is an ass but I still liked him. Sam is amazing. She gave as good as she got.

This is a well written bully romance that I inhaled in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. I hope this author is busy storing more gems like this.

As Lila and Jack work together to find out what really happened on the night of the accident, they are unaware that someone is watching them closely. Someone who has much to lose if the truth comes out, and someone who is prepared to do everything necessary to ensure all loose ends are taken care of.

 MY REVIEW

This is my first but definitely not my last read by this author.

Crikey what a story.

When Lila Ambersom is released from hospital, after an awful accident she just wants to move on.Jacks sister died in the crash. He wants answers but as Lila gets flashbacks there’s someone that doesn’t want her to remember what happened.

A well written story with a gripping storyline. My mind was trying to speed ahead while I was reading but I still didn’t get it right.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Keri Beevis wrote her first novel at age twenty, but it was a further twenty years before she was published after entering the Rethink Press New Novels Competition 2012. Her entry, Dead Letter Day, was a winner, earning her a publishing contract, and the book proved to be a minor hit, leading to a sequel, Dead Write. However it was Keri's third novel, standalone mystery thriller The Darkness Beneaththat gained her the most success, along with many new fans, both in the UK and the USA.
Born in the village of Old Catton, less than a mile from where Anna Sewell was living when she wrote Black Beauty, Keri had a passion for reading and writing from a young age, though her tastes veered more to the macabre.
Today she still lives in Norwich, along with her two naughty kitties, Ellie and Lola, and a plentiful supply of red wine (her writing fuel), where she writes a comedic lifestyle column for a local magazine. She loves Hitchcock movies, exploring creepy places, and gets extremely competitive in local pub quizzes. She is also a self-confessed klutz.
Keri’s previous books have all been US based and she is looking forward to the release of her first UK based novel, which is set in her beautiful home county of Norfolk.

The Quiet Onesby Theresa Talbot

About the book
If only someone had listened...
When the supposed suicide of famous Scottish football coach Harry Nugent hits the headlines, the tabloids are filled with tributes to a charitable pillar of the community that gave so much back to sport and to those less fortunate.
But something isn't right. Normally celebrities are queuing up to claim to have had a very special relationship with the deceased, but investigative journalist Oonagh O'Neil is getting the distinct impression that people are trying to distance themselves from Harry.
Oonagh's investigation leads her to uncover a heartbreakingly haunting cover-up that chills her to the core... and places her in mortal danger from those willing to protect their sadistic and dark secrets at any cost...
Perfect for fans of Patricia Gibney, Angela Marsons and Cara Hunter

EXTRACT

2
DI Alec Davies looked at the body hanging from the oak framed timber balcony and knew he had a major headache on his hands. Harry Nugent was one of the biggest names in Scottish sport, and the Major Investigation Team would be all over this one like a rash. Davies had passed Nugent’s wife on his way in; still sitting in the back of a squad car. The flashing lights of the police cars and ambulance shone through the windows, the light catching on Harry’s eyes, which were still open. His wife had come home around tea-time and found him. Thought initially it was suicide and ran screaming from the house before calling 999. No one had bothered coming out to see what was wrong. It wasn’t that sort of neighbourhood. Davies wondered whether they’d heard Harry’s screams and ignored them too. It was only when blue flashing lights appeared that a few heads bobbed out from behind the cedar gates.
When the paramedics had arrived on the scene it had quickly become obvious that Harry Nugent had been murdered, or at least the death was considered ‘suspicious’. Very few suicide victims had lesions around their wrists and ankles, and even fewer had their tongues cut off and stuffed down the back of their throats.
The police casualty surgeon had long gone, hadn’t taken too much time to pronounce life extinct at the scene. Davies guessed most people would have been able to tell this poor sod was a goner with or without a medical degree. The body was fully clothed – well, almost; one slipper dangled from his right foot, brown leather slip-ons, the other had fallen on the floor. They looked as though they’d cost more than Davies’s monthly mortgage repayment. Hellish little good they’d be doing him now.
DS Toria Law came through the front door. The house had been cleared as soon as it had become obvious that it was a crime scene. She was covered from head to foot: white paper overalls, hood up, covering the small cap her hair was tucked underneath, double latex gloves, disposable shoes and a face mask. Only her eyes were visible through the Perspex goggles. She looked like a kid as she nodded over to him, her eyes quickly taking in the scene. This was only her second time as a crime scene manager, but she was turning into a good copper. Davies knew he was in safe hands and left her to it.
Outside the quiet residential street had been cordoned off, with two police cars parked in a ‘V’ shape, stopping any vehicles entering or leaving. This was an area unused to flashing blue lights or the camera crews that Davies could see were now gathering at the foot of the cul-de-sac.
Nugent’s wife was curled up in the back of the car. Frizzy blonde hair sticking out from the top of the grey blanket she’d been wrapped in. Even from this distance, he could see she was shaking. McVeigh sat opposite her, seemed to be nodding in all the right places, no doubt reassuring her that it was just routine that they’d need DNA swabs. He eased himself out of the car, leaving the grieving widow when he saw his boss.
‘What’s she still doing here?’ Davies looked at his watch. Nugent had been dead for the best part of three hours now.

Death by Indulgence - cover reveal

COVER REVEAL

Book Description:

This book was previously published as FAT CHANCE

Ella Fitzwilliam’s world is about to spiral out of control.

She’s not cut out to be a private investigator. With little or no aptitude for the job, she’s been sent undercover to expose the hidden lives of two men who meet nearly every week at Buxham’s - a private members’ club where portions are large and secrets are held in strictest confidence.

One of those men is Harry Drysdale, a defence barrister. The other is Marcus Carver, an eminent surgeon with a tarnished past and much to lose.

Ella knows he has unhealthy appetites, she’s sure he’s feeding his perverted habits and putting his female patients at risk but she has to prove it.

When Harry Drysdale goes missing, Konrad Neale TV journalist tries to reveal the truth behind the lies, but some of the secrets start to reveal themselves… and they are big.
